Membership Riding Assessment Terms And Conditions
The Membership Riding Assessment will be taken by a qualified riding instructor at one of The Riding Club London's chosen equestrian venues and should only be booked once the membership fee is paid. Members will NOT be permitted to take part in any ridden activity with the club until completion of the assessment and a confirmation of passing email has been received from The Riding Club London. The purpose of the assessment is to reinforce the information that the applicant has supplied at the time of joining and to help the rider assess their current riding standard and competency. The cost of this Membership Riding Assessment is included in the membership fee, which is payable prior to the assessment date. However any cancellations made any less than three days prior to the date booked will result in a £45 charge payable to The Riding Club London.
This assessment is educational and advisory only, to help the rider assess their riding level, and NOT to be used as proof of riding ability, or as an official grading on behalf of The Riding Club London. We do however reserve the right to refuse membership as a result of any assessment indicating that a rider is not capable of riding at walk, trot and canter. Unsuccessful applicants will be refunded the membership fee less the £45 cost of the assessment if they do not comfortably pass this assessment. Please note that refresher lessons can be arranged at the applicants cost prior to the assessment if required.
All riding at the Membership Riding Assessment will require the signing of a disclaimer at the chosen venue (see below in Riding & Events Terms & Conditions).
Riding And Events Terms & Conditions
The Riding Club London provides access / an introduction to riding venues, but cannot accept responsibility for any injury, theft or accident of any kind once on the premises of the venue.
We try to fully describe the nature of the ride or event and level of riding experience required, however the member books an event at their own risk and we reserve the right to exclude any rider from proceeding should the instructor on the day consider them not to have the necessary experience.
The rider will be required by the venue/instructor to sign a disclaimer on their first visit to each venue.
Payment for rides must be made in full in advance of the ride. Cancellation with less than 1 weeks notice will result in forfeiting the full payment. Cancellation with more than one week's notice will result in a 50% refund of payments made.
The Riding Club London accepts no responsibility for any accidents that occur while members are riding or working around the horses at any establishment where events are held. Members ride at their own risk and should ensure they have adequate insurance.
While riding or spending time with horses you are at risk of injury from:
- falling off the horse
- being kicked
- being bitten
- being squashed
- being trodden on
This is not an infinite list. Horses are live, unpredictable animals, and each member must accept responsibility for injury that occurs when around horses.
Riding Trips And Holidays, Terms & Conditions
As with above Riding and Events Terms & Conditions it is each member's responsibility to decide whether their riding level is fitting to the chosen event. The riding assessment is carried out to aid this process and The Riding Club London seek to ensure that a full description of the nature of the trip is supplied, however the member attends at their own risk.
Booking Conditions
The following Booking Conditions, together with all information relating to your chosen event contained on this website, form the basis of your contract with The Riding Club London (RCL). Please read them carefully as they set out our respective rights and obligations. By asking us to confirm your booking, we are entitled to assume that you have had the opportunity to read and have read these booking conditions and agree to them.
Making Your Booking
Once we have received your booking and all appropriate payments, we will, subject to availability, confirm your trip by sending a Booking Confirmation. Everyone going on an RCL event must check all documents (including the Booking Confirmation and Invoice) carefully. Contact us immediately if any information which appears on any document appears to be incorrect or incomplete as it may not be possible to make changes later. Please note: not all of the advertised trip prices published in our brochures or on our website include travel arrangements to the venue, for example flights. Suggested flights are recommended for you to chose and book at you convenience.
Payment
In order to confirm your chosen trip the full payment will be required, please see the cost of trip indicated on our events page on the website www.ridinglondon.com.
The full payment of the trip price must be received by us not less than four days after the place on the trip has been reserved for the member. If we do not receive all payments due in full and on time, we will send you an email reminder. If you do not pay all payments due in full within seven days of receiving this reminder, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you, and you will lose your reserved place on the holiday.
Insurance
You are responsible for providing your own adequate insurance for both riding and travel.
It is at the riders risk to select the appropriate cover for the type of event/ trip they wish to participate in.
Your Contract
A binding contract between us comes into existence when we dispatch your booking confirmation. English law will apply to this contract and to any dispute, claim or other matter of any description which arises between us.
The Cost Of Your Riding Event
We reserve the right to make changes to and correct errors in advertised prices at any time before your event is confirmed. If there are any changes to the published prices, these will be confirmed at the time of booking. We will advise you of any error of which we are aware and of the then applicable price at the time of booking.
If any increase is greater than 10% of the cost of your holiday, you will be entitled to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of all monies paid to us.
You have 14 days from the issue date printed on the surcharge invoice to tell us if you want to cancel for this reason. If you do not tell us that you wish to cancel within this period of time, we are entitled to assume that you do not wish to cancel and will pay the surcharge. Any surcharge must be paid with the balance of the cost of the holiday or within 14 days of the issue date printed on the surcharge invoice, whichever is the later.
Changes By You
If any member is prevented from traveling, the person(s) concerned may transfer their place to another member providing the following requirements are complied with. We must be notified of the transfer(s) in writing (giving full details of the original and substitute party member(s)) not less than two weeks before departure. A transfer will not be possible if there is a waiting list for places in which case the available place must be offered to the next person on that list.
Where a transfer to a person of your choice can be made, all costs and charges incurred by us and/or incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers as a result together with an amendment fee of £30 must be paid before the transfer can be effected. You are responsible for the necessary name changes to flight/rail travel to the trip destination.
Cancellation By You
Should you need to cancel your chosen trip once it has been confirmed, the member must immediately advise us in writing (email is sufficient). Your notice of cancellation will only be effective when it is received in writing.
If we receive notice of cancellation more than 2 weeks before departure, 50% of the full payment received will be returned to the member.
If we receive your notice of cancellation less than 2 weeks before departure, we will retain the full amount of your payment for the trip.
Changes And Cancellation By Us
We start planning the riding events we offer many months in advance. Occasionally, we have to make changes to and correct errors in brochure, website and other details both before and after bookings have been confirmed and cancel confirmed bookings. Please note, some of our holidays require a minimum number of participants to enable us to operate them. If the minimum number of bookings required for a particular holiday have not been received, we are entitled to cancel it. We will notify you of cancellation for this reason no later than 2 weeks before departure. Whilst we always endeavor to avoid changes and cancellations, we must reserve the right to do so.
If we have to make a significant change or cancel, we will tell you as soon as possible. If there is time to do so before departure, we will offer you the choice of the following options:
(a) accepting the changed arrangements or
(b) cancelling or accepting the cancellation in which case you will receive a full and quick refund of all monies you have paid to us.
Please note, the above options are not available where any change made is a minor one. Compensation will not be payable and no liability beyond offering the above mentioned choices can be accepted where (1) we are forced to make a change or cancel as a result of unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which we could not have avoided even with all due care or (2) we have to cancel because the minimum number of bookings necessary for us to operate your holiday has not been reached (see above). No compensation will be payable and the above options will not be available if we cancel as a result of your failure to comply with any requirement of these booking conditions entitling us to cancel (such as paying on time) or if the change made is a minor one. A minor change is any change which, taking account of the information you have given us at the time of booking or which we can reasonably be expected to know as a tour operator, we could not reasonably expect to have a significant effect on your confirmed holiday.
Force Majeure
Except where otherwise expressly stated in these booking conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected by, or you otherwise suffer any damage, loss or expense of any nature as a result of, "force majeure". In these Booking Conditions, "force majeure" means any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity (actual or threatened), industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events outside our control.
Our Liability To You
(1) We promise to make sure that the event arrangements we have agreed to make, perform or provide as applicable as part of our contract with you are made, performed or provided with reasonable skill and care. This means that, subject to these booking conditions, we will accept responsibility if, for example, you suffer death or personal injury or your contracted arrangements are not provided as promised or prove deficient as a result of the failure of ourselves, our employees or agents or suppliers to use reasonable skill and care in making, performing or providing, as applicable, your contracted holiday arrangements. Please note it is your responsibility to show that reasonable skill and care has not been used if you wish to make a claim against us. In addition, we will only be responsible for what our employees and agents and suppliers do or do not do if they were at the time acting within the course of their employment (for employees) or carrying out work we had asked them to do (for agents). We will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss (for example loss of enjoyment), damage, expense, cost or other sum or claim of any description whatsoever which results from any of the following:
(a) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected or any member(s) of their party or
(b) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of a third party not connected with the provision of your holiday and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable or
(c) "force majeure" as defined in above.
We cannot accept responsibility for any services which do not form part of our contract. This includes, for example, any additional services or facilities which your hotel or any other supplier agrees to provide for you where the services or facilities are not advertised by us and we have not agreed to arrange them as part of our contract. In addition, regardless of any wording used by us on our website, in any of our brochures or elsewhere, we only promise to use reasonable skill and care as set out above and we do not have any greater or different liability to you.
Please note, we cannot accept any liability for any damage, loss, expense or other sum(s) of any description (1) which on the basis of the information given to us by you concerning your booking prior to our accepting it, we could not have foreseen you would suffer or incur if we breached our contract with you or (2) which did not result from any breach of contract or other fault by ourselves or our employees or, where we are responsible for them, our suppliers. Additionally we cannot accept liability for any business losses.
Riding Ability And Itinerary (Riding Holidays Only)
To avoid any unnecessary risk to you and other members, our colleagues at the riding venues must reserve the right to modify the holiday of any rider who, in their opinion, proves to be unsuitable for the ride chosen. In this unlikely event any additional costs will be borne by the client(s) concerned. It is the responsibility of the client to behave in a suitable manner at all times and to follow the advice and instructions of the guide. If local conditions, such as bad weather, dictate a change in the proposed itinerary, the decision of the guide must be accepted and no refund will be offered in such circumstances.
Special Requests And Medical Problems
If you have any special request, you must advise us at the time of booking. Although we will endeavour to pass any reasonable requests on to the relevant supplier, we regret we cannot promise that any request will be met unless we have specifically confirmed this in writing. Confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed onto the supplier or the inclusion of the request on your Booking Confirmation and Invoice or any other documentation is not confirmation that the request will be met. Unless and until specifically confirmed, all special requests are subject to availability. We regret we cannot accept any conditional bookings, i.e. any booking which is specified to be conditional on the fulfilment of a particular request. All such bookings will be treated as "standard" bookings subject to the above provisions on special requests.
If you have a medical problem or disability or any health or fitness concerns which may affect your holiday or your participation in any activity or has any special requirements as a result of any medical condition or disability (including any which affect the booking process), please give us full details before you confirm your booking so that we can assist you in considering the suitability of the arrangements and/or making the booking. In any event, you must give us full details in writing at the time of booking. You must also advise us as soon as possible of any change or development in any disability or medical condition or your health or fitness which may affect your holiday develops after your booking has been confirmed. If we reasonably feel unable to properly accommodate the particular needs of the person concerned, we must reserve the right to decline their reservation or, if full details are not given at the time of booking or their health/fitness/disability/medical condition changes/deteriorates, cancel when we become aware of these details.

However, errors may occasionally occur and information may subsequently change. You must therefore ensure you check all details of your chosen holiday (including the price) with us at the time of booking.
